How We Use Your Information

We only use your personal information to provide and enhance Folia services and applications. We do not use your information for any marketing purposes, unless you opt-in for marketing emails and messages.

Accounts and Cloud-Based Features

Some features of our software require a Folia Account and utilize various cloud-based processing services. These cloud-based services comply with our strong Information Security practices as indicated below. When you use these cloud-based services, we do not store your documents or personal data. We also do not associate personal information such as name and email address with documents that get processed using our cloud-based services.

We Do Not Share Information

We do not share personal information with companies, organizations and individuals outside of Folia unless one of the following circumstances apply:

  • With your consent: We may share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of Folia only when we have your express consent to do so.

  • Folia’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirement.

  • For legal reasons: We will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of Folia if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:

    • meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request.

    • protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Folia, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

If Folia is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, we will continue to ensure the confidentiality of any personal information and give affected users notice before personal information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Information Security

We work hard to protect Folia and our users from unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of information we hold. In particular:

  • We review our information collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures, to guard against unauthorized access to systems.

  • We restrict access to personal information to Folia employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it for us, and who are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations and may be disciplined or terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.

  • For features that make use of cloud-based processing, we rely on state-of-the-art security. For example, our cloud services are currently hosted at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon uses military grade perimeter control berms, video surveillance, and professional security staff to keep their data centers physically secure. You can find more information about Amazon's security at the Amazon Web Services' website.

  • Any data we transmit to our cloud-based services from our applications is sent over a secure channel using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption, the industry standard for secure Internet network connections.

  • Folia (and our partners like AWS) also employs significant protection against network security issues such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, Man in the Middle (MITM) attacks, and packet sniffing.

Changes

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification).
